What Can I Do at the Museum of Illusions?

The Museum of Illusions is one of the extraordinary museums in Athens, as it shows the world of illusions in a playful and entertaining way with a variety of different illusions.

How Do I Get to the Museum of Illusions?

The Museum of Illusions is located in the Monastiraki district in downtown Athens, surrounded by a number of sights such as the Temple of Hephaestus and the Roman Agora . A 15-minute walk takes visitors from Syntagma Square to the museum.

Since the museum is only a few meters away from the "Monastiraki" metro station, the best way to travel is to take metro line 1 or 3. The Hop on Hop off bus tour also has a stop (station A14 "Monastiraki/Thession" ).

Visitors arriving from the Piraeus cruise port can go to the nearby Piraeus Metro Station and board the M1 line. A single ticket is sufficient for the 16-minute journey to Monastiraki station. 

The entrance to the museum is at Astiggos 12.

History of the Museum of Illusions

Due to the popularity that museums of illusions enjoy worldwide, the idea of founding such a museum in Athens came up. The Greek TV presenter Sakis Tanimanidis and the businessman Miltos Kambouridis have dedicated themselves to this task.

The project finally came to fruition on September 15, 2018, when the Museum of Illusions opened its doors for the first time in the popular Monastiraki district of Athens.

On an area of 400 m², more than 60 installations offer a journey into the world of illusions.
